I. Basic structure and materials

  • Conductor:
    • Material: Usually copper conductor, which has good electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity. High-purity copper can reduce resistance and energy loss.
    • Specification: There are various specifications for the cross-sectional area of the conductor. Common ones are 4×25 + 1×16 (4 phase lines of 25 square millimeters + 1 ground line of 16 square millimeters), 5×10 (5 equal cross-sectional core wires of 10 square millimeters), etc. The specific specification is determined according to the current demand of the actual use scenario.
  • Insulation layer:
    • Material: Cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) is used, which has excellent electrical insulation performance, heat resistance and aging resistance. It can maintain stable insulation performance under different environmental temperatures and prevent current leakage and short circuit.
    • Thickness: Determined according to the voltage level and conductor cross-sectional area of the cable. Generally, the higher the voltage level and the larger the conductor cross-sectional area, the thicker the insulation thickness to ensure that no breakdown occurs under normal working voltage.
  • Sheath:
    • Material: Polyvinyl chloride (PVC), which has good corrosion resistance, wear resistance and waterproof performance, and can protect the internal structure of the cable from the influence of the external environment.

II. Electrical performance parameters

  • Rated voltage:  0.6/1kV YJV cable is suitable for general low-voltage power distribution systems.
  • Test voltage: According to different standards and requirements, such as 3.5kV/5min (for 0.6/1kV cable), etc., it is used to test whether the insulation performance of the cable is qualified under a specific voltage.
  • Current carrying capacity: Determined according to factors such as the conductor cross-sectional area, voltage level, laying method (such as laying in air, direct burial laying, etc.) and environmental temperature. The current carrying capacity refers to the maximum current value that the cable can safely carry under specific conditions. For example, when the YJV-5×16 cable is laid in air and the environmental temperature is 30°C, the current carrying capacity is about 70A; when laid directly buried, the current carrying capacity will be slightly less than that when laid in air.

III. Use characteristics

  • perating temperature: The long-term allowable operating temperature of YJV cable with cross-linked polyethylene insulation is 90°C. In case of short circuit (the longest duration does not exceed 5 seconds), the maximum temperature of the cable conductor does not exceed 250°C.
  • Laying conditions: Suitable for various occasions such as indoor, tunnels, cable trenches and underground direct burial laying. When laying, attention should be paid to avoiding mechanical damage and excessive bending of the cable. The bending radius generally requires not less than a certain multiple of the cable outer diameter (for example, the single-core cable is not less than 15 times the cable outer diameter, and the multi-core cable is not less than 10 times the cable outer diameter).
  • Scope of application: Commonly used in urban underground power grids, outgoing lines of power stations, internal power supply of industrial and mining enterprises, and underwater transmission lines across rivers and seas, etc., for transmitting and distributing electric energy.
